Last Saturday at 9 a.m., the starting signal was given at the Neckarwiese in Neuenheim, Heidelberg: The charity regatta "Rudern gegen Krebs" was underway for the ninth year running. More than 80 boats crewed by amateurs and professionals alike started in bright sunshine and ideal rowing conditions in support of the foundation "Leben mit Krebs" (Living with Cancer), which works to improve the quality of life of cancer patients. Two SNP teams competed in the open class with great success, with the mixed team winning gold in the final and bringing home the trophy. The team also took second place in the grand final, which saw the winners of the respective classes compete against each other.

The SNP team started with mixed boat and a men's boat. Once it was clear that the mixed team had come in first place, there were cheers all round. "We are very proud of our victory and have delivered a fantastic performance as a team today," said Ulrike Gutfleisch after the award ceremony. "We are not only happy about the trophy, but also that we were able to be part of this regatta and support the charity event for cancer patients."

In addition to the sporting part of the event, a diverse program of activities was also offered on the Neckarwiese: Visitors could read up about the topics "sport and cancer" at various stands, and there were small performances, face painting and much more for children and families. SNP had set up a stand with a popcorn machine and gave out soap bubble bottles to the children.

As a sponsor and promoter of "Rudern gegen Krebs," SNP has been making a valuable contribution to improving the quality of life of cancer patients since 2015. The charity regatta is organized by the foundation "Leben mit Krebs" in cooperation with the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) Heidelberg and the Rudergesellschaft Heidelberg 1898 e.V. The charity regatta aims draw attention to the importance of sport for the treatment of cancer.
